Selling into government often comes down to timing. The earlier you identify a signal—whether it’s a new bid, a contract renewal, or agency spending activity—the more time you have to position your solution.
But with thousands of records across bids, contracts, spending data, and meetings, identifying the right signals can take time.
In a recent GovSpend webinar, Chief Product Officer Bradley Scott and Director of Product Platforms Katherine Sanders demonstrated the new Opportunities module, a feature designed to help public sector sellers quickly identify relevant government contracting opportunities inside the GovSpend platform.
Below are the key takeaways from the session.
A New Way to Discover Government Opportunities
GovSpend already provides deep visibility into government bids, contracts, procurement data, spending activity, and agency intelligence across state and local government.
The challenge many customers shared was simple: while the data is powerful, finding the most actionable signals still requires time and research.
The Opportunities module helps solve that by bringing signals together from across GovSpend datasets and the open web into one, centralized view.
Instead of running searches across multiple modules, users can open the Opportunities page and see a prioritized list of signals that may represent real opportunities in their market.
These signals may include:
- Newly released government bids and RFPs
- Contract awards or upcoming renewals
- Agency spending trends
- Public meetings discussing upcoming initiatives
- Relevant updates found across the public web
For public sector sales teams, this means less time searching for procurement data and more time evaluating potential deals.
Personalized Signals Based on Your Target Market
One of the biggest drivers behind the Opportunities module is personalization.
GovSpend recently introduced enhanced organization and user profiles that help the platform understand what your company sells and where you focus.
Using AI, GovSpend generates an initial organization profile based on publicly available information such as your company website. This profile can include:
- Products and services
- Target agency types
- Geographic markets served
Industry focus - Known competitors
Individual users can then customize their own profiles based on their territory or area of focus.
This allows GovSpend to surface opportunities that align with each user’s public sector sales strategy, rather than showing the same signals to every team.
Once a profile is configured, the Opportunities module begins automatically surfacing signals aligned with that profile.
Each opportunity is assigned a relevance score, helping users quickly identify which signals are most likely to be actionable.
Built to Help Sales Teams Take Action Faster
Identifying a signal is only the first step. Sales teams also need the context and tools to act on it quickly.
Each opportunity surfaced in the module includes helpful context, such as:
- A summary of the signal
- An explanation of why it matches your profile
- Relevant documents or attachments
- Related activity from the same agency
- Direct links back to the full GovSpend record for deeper research
The module also supports features designed to fit into existing sales workflows.
Users can enable daily or weekly opportunity alerts, which deliver newly surfaced signals directly to their inbox.
GovSpend also supports CRM integrations with Salesforce and HubSpot, allowing teams to push opportunities directly into their CRM pipeline. When opportunities are shared with a CRM, they include helpful context such as the opportunity summary, relevance explanation, and a link back to the original GovSpend record.
These capabilities help public sector sales teams move from research to outreach more quickly.
What’s Next for the Opportunities Module
During the webinar, the GovSpend product team also previewed several enhancements currently in development. One of these enhancements, Agency decision-maker contacts surfaced directly within opportunities, has just been released last week.
Upcoming capabilities include:
- Estimated opportunity value to help prioritize deals
- AI-assisted outreach suggestions
- Exportable opportunity briefs for internal sales teams
- Expanded integrations, including Slack
- Additional AI-powered insights built directly into the module
As with many GovSpend product updates, customer feedback will continue to shape the roadmap.
Helping Public Sector Sellers Find the Right Signals Faster
For organizations selling into state and local government, identifying the right signals early can make a significant difference.
The new Opportunities module brings together signals across procurement data, government bids, spending insights, and agency intelligence to help teams identify potential opportunities faster.
Instead of manually searching across datasets, public sector sellers can now start with a prioritized view of opportunities aligned with their market.
